School children enjoy NFL Flag Football session with Tennessee Titans players

Children from schools across West London have taken part in an NFL Flag Football session with American Football team Tennessee Titans.

Over 200 children completed a range of skills-based drills alongside Titans players, cheerleaders and mascot T-Rac at Syon House, the London residence of the Duke of Northumberland.

The children took part on Friday after the Titans had completed practice for their NFL International Series game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Wembley.

Kenny Bello, leader of the organisation responsible for running this schools programme alongside the NFL, believes that Flag Football has the potential to be an international sport.

He said: “There are several countries that play the sport, but the NFL Flag programme should be worldwide.

“We’re actually looking at the Olympics and I believe it’s somewhere we can look at finding a place in.”

NFL Flag Football started four years ago with coaches going into schools and teaching a character-based curriculum and has been brought into schools as part of a PE curriculum.
