A Wolverhampton charity is trying to improve the environment by getting volunteers to litter pick on the canal using canoes.

The Wildlife Activity Centre, on Hordern Road, set up the litter-picking project with the Canals and Rivers Trust, as one way to re-engage people with canals. Two canoe litter picks took place on Tuesday

Mark Hand, Business Development Manager, said: “We’ve tried to look at a variety of both activities and events, to encourage as many people as possible to engage with the canals.

“We’re here, and it’s about re-engaging not just with the canals, but with the nature around you. Certainly over the last year, we know how important it is to be outside, and to engage with the natural world.”
